Project Purpose: Provide a better facility to accommodate expansive HJAIA maintenance department which consists of more than 1,800 staff members in 13 buildings, working 24 hours per day over three shifts, spanning the 4,700-acre airport complex.
The program scope provides for a 24-acre site located on the perimeter of eastern end of the airport property near Interstate 285 and Interstate 75. Site preparation includes a 1,300-foot long, 32,000-square-foot retaining wall and 27,000 cubic yards of imported fill. A total of 40,000 square yards of concrete and asphalt pavement provide surface covering. There also is a 3,300-linear-foot perimeter fence and four acres of grassing and landscaping. The scope includes 11 buildings, totaling 426,000 SF and two buildings on a satellite site, totaling 22,000 SF.
